The NationalCommission to Prevent and Eradicate Violence AgainstWomen in Ciudad Juarezalso made very important contributions to this progress by, among other things,supporting the work carried out by the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team(Equipo Argentino de Antropologia Forense, EAAF).[98] TheEAAF, which has been working under the auspices of the state prosecutor'soffice in Ciudad Juarez to obtain samples from bodies and family members inorder to match their DNA results, has obtained DNA samples from at least 80bodies and 193 family members, and has succeeded in identifying 27bodies.[99]

[222] The rights to health and health care are recognized ina number of international instruments. For example, the InternationalCovenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) provides in Article12(1) that states must recognize "the right of everyone to the enjoyment of thehighest attainable standard of physical and mental health." TheConvention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW)also provides in Article 12(1) that "States Parties shall take all appropriatemeasures to eliminate discrimination against women in the field of health carein order to ensure, on a basis of equality of men and women, access to healthcare services, including those related to family planning" and in Article14(2)(b) that states must ensure that women in rural areas "have access toadequate health care facilities, including information, counselling andservices in family planning." Article 24(d) of the Convention on theRights of the Child (CRC) also provides that states must take measures to"ensure appropriate pre- and post-natal health care for expectant mothers" aspart of the obligation to recognize children's right to the highest attainablestandard of health. Finally, the Additional Protocol to the AmericanConvention on Human Rights in the Area of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights(Protocol of San Salvador) provides in Article 10: "Everyone shall have theright to health, understood to mean the enjoyment of the highest level ofphysical, mental and social well-being." 041b061a72
