It Gets A Lot Less Glamorous!

Every chandelier has automatically lowered itself half-mast today and every crystal flute of champagne that gets poured will be flat and bubble-less, because human diamond Zsa Zsa Gabor has been chauffeured off to the afterworld in a bright white Rolls Royce and has reunited with her sisters Eva and Magda. The legendary goddess of glamour and opulence Zsa Zsa Gabor (born name: Sári Gábor) died today at the age of 99.

Another of the new graduates resented having to do data entry; they got back at being required to do it was to alternate lower case and upper case letters, making the information useless for much of what was needed.

And unfortunately this is a role that many organizations are cutting. At my last job, every department except mine had an admin. This meant, I spent a lot more time on administrative tasks, making me less productive.

At the moment, paid State Department internships are incredibly rare. If the FY2022 budget gets passed, that may end up changing, but for now most State interns are unpaid (yes, even the ones who went overseas prior to COVID hitting).

They were in a position to learn a lot by observing and listening while helping out with tasks that may be unglamorous but are still giving them a window into jobs that not everyone gets. Pretty oblivious of them!

Researched since the 1930s but first commercialised in 2003, e-cigarettes were designed to look like cigarettes, cigars, pipes, pens or memory sticks. As told in the podcast The Vaping Fix, battery-operated products like Juul were proposed as a safer form of smoking. They are emerging as far from harmless. In Australia it is illegal to sell e-cigarettes containing nicotine.

My particular bugbear is people with backpacks. For some reason, they imagine that their backpacks take up no space. So, while climbing into the plane or in the bus to the plane, they will carelessly turn around, hitting people on their heads with their backpacks, or they will push other passengers up against the wall with the pressure of their overfilled backpacks.

France: Under impeccable appearances, the Cannes Film Festival hides a less glamorous reality. Kilos of discarded food, energy-hungry yachts, incessant landings of jets, sedans carrying stars over a few meters ... Environmental associations point to a "huge waste".

For twelve days, the city that receives filmmakers from around the world shines brightly, but for the Association for the Defense of the Environment and Nature (ADEN) behind the scenes is less bright and the event " out of the ordinary "is accompanied by pollution just as disproportionate.

The noise level can exceed 80 decibels for aircraft that have the noisiest turbochargers while the ambient noise, excluding aeronautical events, is less than 50 decibels, says the Association for the defence against noise pollution (ADNA).

"Many stars appear as defenders of the environment, after the reality there are some paradoxes," said Mr. Lisnard refutes nonetheless lax vis-à-vis personalities. If the actor Leonardo DiCaprio, engaged for the environment and great adept of the yachts, "drained his boat in the bay of Cannes, he would take a PV like the others," assures the elected.

According to Forbes, the top 10 highest-paid actresses in 2018 earned less than 30 cents for ever dollar earned by their male counterparts. These actresses brought in a combined salary of $186 million, while the 10 highest-paid men earned $748.5 million.

"When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with dicks, I didn't get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself," Lawrence later wrote in an open letter. "I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early. I didn't want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don't need."

"And so people are already saying, 'Well, she's making a lot less than her male co-stars because she's making this.' I made less than a quarter of that in reality, so there is a huge wage gap in the industry," she said.

Producers of Netflix's hit show "The Crown" infamously confirmed that Claire Foy, who played the titular queen, was paid less than Matt Smith, who played Queen Elizabeth II's husband Prince Philip on the show's first two seasons.

Many people enjoy exploring open water and desire the freedom to live their life on the sea. For these reasons, individuals are drawn to being a cruise ship captain. In order to have this job, it requires a lot of work and training. Cruise ship captains seem to have a glamorous job and this is another reason why people aspire to have this vocation. However, the reality of being a cruise ship captain is far less glamorous and involves a lot more work.

Cruise ship captains have a lot of responsibility and they are known as the "master" of their ship. This job is far from easy, but can be extremely rewarding. Cruise ship captains are in charge of overseeing their crew of thousands of people to be sure that every gets done and is compliant with both international and local laws. Other responsibilities include maintaining and utilizing complex navigational systems and engines, watching the embarkment and disembarkment of passengers to ensure that every person is accounted for and knowing that safety equipment and measures are working. Additionally, cruise ship captains must enforce safety procedures, navigate the ship and communicate with ports and other nearby vessels. Another skill that is important for cruise ship captains is the ability to socialize. It is important for cruise ship captains to socialize with passengers, such as making small conversations and even hosting dinners. As the cruise ship captain is in charge of the ship, many people will report to them, such as the hotel manager, cruise director and the head engineer. The cruise ship captain is the point person and responsible for the safety of the ship and its passengers. It is evident that the role of a cruise ship captain is a large amount of responsibility and hard work.

As a CMO or agency lead, one of the most valuable contributions you can make to your organization is to develop a similar system so you can hire the smartest people possible and guide them to produce their best work. Even on the project or campaign side of marketing, systems designed around creative considerations, audiences, visual identity, channels and budgets let everyone work smarter and faster.

The Heart Leaf Philodendron is a popular houseplant which is actually surprisingly low maintenance. Of course, they will grow well in brighter areas but they will manage ok in less light too. Keep in mind that their leaves will grow larger when climbing upwards, although they make stunning trailing plants off a shelf or cupboard.

Work stress is the phenomenon that's launched a 1,000 articles (10,000? 20,000?) and spurred countless tips, books, guides, and product recommendations. To ward it off, we've put ashwagandha powder in our lattes; we've listened to gurus who promised us that back-to-back yoga classes would cure all that ails us, if only we could squeeze them into our packed schedules. But here we are, still faced with one essential truth: All that green juice later, we feel overworked and overextended.

Why should you care less? Because it solves a lot of anguish. If you put just a little less emphasis on your responsibilities, you're less likely to hyperventilate (and overthink) before a big presentation. You won't be as frustrated by incompetent colleagues. You might even put your phone away at dinner with friends and you won't have dreams about Slack as you backpack through Machu Picchu.

Ever since I started my undergraduate degree, I was keen on securing a job in strategy consulting. It is not difficult to see why the job is so attractive to young overachievers. You get the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment surrounding yourself with smart people and learning about business problems in a variety of industries. This ultimately leads to a steep learning curve. The pay and the reputation are great. A few years at a top tier consulting firm will look fantastic on your CV and can open up many career opportunities. And quite frankly, once I went to business school, it often felt like consulting was the only valid career choice out there. Nonetheless, the more consulting experience I gained through internships, the more I realized that the job is not all roses.

On top of that, travelling every week is a lot less romantic than it sounds. Sure, you may be flying business class and staying at some of the finest hotels. But usually, what you will see of a city is the airport, your hotel, and the office you are working from. In combination with the hours, spending four days a week away from home and needing the weekends to rest means that you may have to give up on your hobbies and drastically reduce your social circle. Of course, this is not a given, but it is a risk you should consider before starting in this line of work.

Below, Ava Max reflects on her most iconic Instagram photos, breaking down some of the coolest, most meaningful moments she's shared.
